Privacy Policy
This policy describes how Chiral Audio ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and discloses personal information when you visit chiral.audio, sign up for updates, purchase a license, activate a plugin, or contact support. We operate from Atlanta, Georgia, United States.
We try to collect as little information as possible, and we do not sell your data. If anything here is unclear, contact us at [email protected].
1. What we collect
Newsletter and update signups
When you sign up for updates, we store:
- Your email address (required)
- Your name (optional)
- The timestamp of your signup
- Your user-agent string (browser and operating system identifiers, used for diagnostics)
- A short-lived hashed identifier used only for rate limiting and discarded shortly after
Purchases
When you purchase a plugin, Paddle, our merchant of record, collects the information needed to process the transaction, including your name, email, billing address, tax location, and payment method details. We receive purchase, product, price, license, and fulfillment records, but we do not store your full payment card information.
License activation and verification
When you activate or verify a plugin, we store the license key, product, activation status, activation timestamp, a machine identifier generated by the plugin, and technical details needed to confirm the license and diagnose failures. A license key activates up to two machines per product and supports a 14-day offline window between online checks.
Support messages
If you contact support, we store the information you provide in the message, along with the email address and technical context needed to respond.
Automatic information
Our web host receives standard HTTP request logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user-agent) as part of delivering the site. We do not maintain independent analytics, tracking pixels, fingerprinting scripts, or advertising identifiers.
2. How we use your information
- To send product updates, release notes, and account-related messages you requested. No third-party promotions.
- To fulfill purchases, deliver license keys, and provide customer support.
- To activate licenses, enforce machine limits, and verify entitlement.
- To diagnose technical problems and protect against abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Who we share it with
We share data only with service providers that make the site work:
- Cloudflare (Workers + D1): hosts our backend infrastructure, including the database that stores newsletter subscribers, license records, and machine activations. Cloudflare also serves the site itself and receives request logs.
- Resend: sends transactional and update emails (welcome messages, license delivery, product updates, support replies) on our behalf.
- Paddle: our merchant of record. Paddle processes payments, collects and remits applicable taxes, and stores billing details. You will see their name and terms at checkout.
- GitHub Pages: serves the static portion of
chiral.audio(pages, images, scripts).
We do not sell your data. We do not share it for advertising purposes.
4. Legal bases for processing
For users in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom, our legal bases are contract performance for purchases, license activation, and support; consent for update emails; legitimate interests for security, abuse prevention, diagnostics, and site operations; and legal obligation for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, and compliance records.
5. How long we keep it
Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. License and activation records are retained for the lifetime of the license (so the plugin can verify activations on your behalf). Purchase records are retained as long as required for tax and accounting purposes, typically seven years in the United States.
6. Your rights
Regardless of where you live, you can email [email protected] to:
- Access the data we have about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete data that is not required for licensing, fraud prevention, accounting, tax, or legal compliance
- Export your data in a portable format
- Unsubscribe from update emails
We will respond within 30 days. If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you have additional statutory rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA / CPRA respectively, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
7. Cookies and tracking
The marketing site does not currently set cookies, use local storage for tracking, or load third-party trackers. If that changes, we will update this policy and, where required by law, surface a consent prompt before any non-essential tracking runs.
8. Security
We use reputable service providers with industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure. In the event of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by law.
9. Children
Chiral Audio is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with data, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
10. International transfers
We operate from the United States. If you access the site from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the site, you consent to that transfer.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top indicates the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced on the site. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
12. Contact
